Provider Registration and Accreditation |
The provider registration and accreditation
requirements of SAQA, the DoE, UMALUSI and SETAs are of necessity rigorous,
demanding and non-negotiable. Many stakeholders who have to comply with these
see them as barriers to access and unnecessarily severe.
It is firstly important to understand that the government's requirements are the law of
our land, and are therefore not flexible in terms of application.
Secondly, we must remember that SAQA's drive for 'quality education for all'
comes in stark and very welcome contrast to the infamous 'bantu education'
system preceding it.
Thirdly, we are all too well aware of the many exposures of 'fly by night'
education and training providers who have exploited our citizens under previous
regimes.
Lastly, many of us have come across instances in our lives where courses we
have invested our time and money on receive no recognition from our employers
or RPL from academic institutions when we wish to further our studies.
We can therefore associate strongly with the reasons behind our Government not
wishing to compromise on quality assurance when it comes to education, training
and development, while fully understanding the difficulties faced by those
wishing to comply.
Siya Phambile Consultants (Pty) Ltd (SPC)
