Design & Implementation of Mentorship Programmes |
The SPC
Mentorship Programme can take one of two forms, namely:
Mentorship Services to Off-Site Company Bursars on Location at Various
Educational Institutions
These services could involve visiting and meeting with bursars and academic
staff at fixed intervals to review study progress, investigate problem areas
and provide regular feedback to clients.
Such opportunities can also be used to 'fly the client flag' on campus and
thereby ensure that bursars retain a bond with their sponsors, rather than
being lured away by competing prospective employers.
The Design and Implementation of Mentorship Programmes for In-House Use,
Supported by Appropriate Training of Mentors and Protégés
The broad sequence of events would be
as follows :
- Front-End Research and Scoping
The process commences with an in-depth profile of the company being
compiled by SPC covering
policies, structure, strategies, communications, attitudes, etc. This is
done so as to ensure that the programme designed by SPC
meshes as seamlessly as possible with your existing policies and culture.
- Recruitment / Screening of
Protégés
Should you wish us to locate candidates for your programme, this can be
arranged. If on the other hand you have in-house candidates under
consideration, we could screen these for you.
- Assessment of Human Potential
of Protégés and Mentors.
Our consulting psychologists can arrange this for you.
- Design and Management Approval
of Mentorship Policy and Procedures
This document sets out in detail how the programme operates.
The Policy and Procedures are discussed with management in detail and
finalised, once approved.
- 'Matching' Mentors and Protégés
We believe that this is a critical success factor and needs to be handled
with the utmost sensitivity. We can facilitate the process on your behalf,
which culminates in the preparation of mentorship contracts.
- Implementation Training for
Mentors and Protégés
In addition to mentorship-related issues, considerable coverage is devoted
to understanding human behaviour and attitudes, learning organisations and
the 'nuts and bolts' of how to implement and manage the programme. VCA, our associated
company is an accredited provider in this field and a customised training
programme is available.
- Programme Implementation
We see this as a line management function, but will assist if required.
- Monthly Post-Implementation
Monitoring by SPC
We recommend this for a period of 12 months following implementation.
